Gatland 'offered Lions job'

Reports in the Sunday press are claiming that Warren Gatland has been offered the role of Lions coach for the 2013 tour to Australia.

The Sunday Telegraph claims the current Wales coach has been offered the role following an interview in London on Wednesday.

The 48-year-old, who guided Wales to Six Nations success earlier this month, is currently back home in New Zealand. However, it is understood his representatives have opened contract talks with the Lions board, who are keen to confirm the appointment by the start of April.

The Wales Rugby Union have previously revealed they are willing to let Gatland take up the role, though he could coach Wales in the autumn internationals and even next year's Six Nations, leaving him six months to prepare for the Lions Tour down under in the summer of 2013. - http://www.setanta.com
