The Magpies looked lacklustre in the
game’s first minutes, as they conceded early goals from Bruges’ Ivan Trickovski
and Jesper Jorgensen. The English outfit sought to turn things around through
two-minute interval goals from Vurnon Anita and Shola Ameobi made before half
time.
Both Bruges and Newcastle did not
have an easy time to win w1th ease against one another as either side saw close
chances to break the deadlock. Yohan Cabaye failed to convert a close free
kick, while Mohamed Tchite almost scored a header for the Belgian side.
