Denton ready for Parisse test

Scotland No.8 Dave Denton believes he has the ability to help his side avoid the wooden spoon when they face Italy.



The two teams meet in Rome on Saturday and both will be looking to pick up their first points of the Six Nations after a difficult tournament.

Despite their poor form, both nations have shown improvements in the tournament, especially the Scots, who have brought through a number of talented youngsters who look like they could shine for years to come.Most notable of these is back rower Denton who has impressed with his solid defence and strong carrying throughout the competition.His duel with Italian counterpart Sergio Parisse is seen as crucial to the outcome of the match and Denton says he is certainly not fazed by the challenge.

"It's been a great opportunity for me to learn and test myself up against the best and I think I've gone well so far," he told Sky Sports. "I've got an opportunity this weekend to make a big difference. If you can get on top of Parisse it might get them down a bit."It's important for me to win that personal battle for the team to do well," he added. - http://www.setanta.com
