Schmidt dismisses England rumours

Joe Schmidt insists he has no intention of leaving Leinster despite reports he is in the running for the vacant England job.

A number of high-profile coaches have been linked with the England post following Martin Johnson's resignation but so far only Northampton's Jim Mallinder has expressed an interest in taking over the hot seat.

Both Graham Henry and Nick Mallett have ruled themselves out of the running and now Schmidt has distanced himself with reports linking him with the position.

"I have been flattered by some misguided bookmakers, who have thrown me into the market," Schmidt is quoted as saying in the Irish Daily Mirror.

"I haven't had any contact with them. I am really enjoying what we are doing here - I am very Leinster focused."

Schmidt took over from Michael Cheika ahead of the 2010-11 season and in his first year in charge he guided the Blues to the Heineken Cup. - http://www.setanta.com
