Cipriani eager for England recall

Change of coach puts Rebels stand-off back on the radar

Danny Cipriani is hopeful he will be included when England boss Stuart Lancaster names his first Elite Player Squad on Wednesday.

The Melbourne Rebels fly-half has not played for his country since 2008, having fallen out of favour under Martin Johnson.

He moved to Australia to rebuild his career but a series of injuries in the England half-backs means Cipriani, who has a clause in his Rebels contract that allows him to leave if selected by his country in 2012, has a chance of a recall.

"I've worked with Stuart before and I've got a lot of respect for him," Cipriani told the Sunday Express.

"I'm encouraged that he's said that players who were previously overlooked or on the fringes are now going to be considered to play for England.

"I'm not saying that I am definitely going to be picked but from my point of view I've never been fitter or trained harder and I've never wanted it more.

"I'm optimistic of getting another chance to play for online sports betting England and I won't give up hoping, but I know there are no guarantees for anyone. I've got a long-term goal now to be in the England squad for 2012 and to be first-choice No. 10." - http://www1.skysports.com
