Holley prepared for Jones exit

Head coach Sean Holley admits he would love Adam Jones to remain at the Ospreys but understands why he might leave to play in France.

Jones is due to fall out of contract at the end of the current season and rumours persist that he might follow some high-profile Welsh players and ply his trade overseas.

The Ospreys have had to deal with the departure of James Hook, Mike Phillips and Lee Byrne in recent times, as the top stars look to earn more money in France, and Jones has hinted that he may well follow suit next year.

The Abercraf-born star has won 76 caps for Wales in an illustrious career and has been a member of the Ospreys squad since 2003 and, while he would love the powerful prop to remain at the club, Holley would hold nothing against him if he did decide to jump ship.

"You can't blame players for taking up offers," he said. "We've experienced it already but we want Adam to be at the region. "

He is a local boy, I taught him when he was 17 so he has been here a long time and he loves playing at this region."
French clubs can offer the top stars from the home nations better financial packages and it is clearly something that irks Holley and an issue he feels needs sorting out sooner rather than later. "

We don't compete on a level playing field and it is very difficult," he added. "

It's a predicament for people higher than myself to sort out because my job here is to coach Adam.

"And I hope I get the chance to coach him for a few more years." - http://www.setanta.com
