Manchester City, Ajax Held in UEFA Champions League Draw

THE LATEST UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE NEWS – Dutch champions Ajax were poised to win with ease through two impressive first-half goals from captain Siem de Jong, but English champions and hosts Manchester City rallied with an equalizer through goals from Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero.

City did not get a crucial victory after match officials declared Sergio Aguero’s second goal offside. Mario Balotelli did not get a penalty after Ricardo van Rhijn tackled him. The result now places the English side in danger of another early Champions League exit.

The controversial refereeing decisions roused City made manager Roberto Mancini’s fury. He confronted the officials on the pitch at the end of the match, which led him to penalties for improper conduct from UEFA.
