Penrith Panthers vs New Zealand Warriors
Last meeting: Round 24 2011 - Warriors 26 bt Panthers 12 at Centrebet Stadium
Head-to-head: Penrith 14 Warriors 13 drawn 1
Referees: Steve Lyons, Brett Suttor
FootyTab: Panthers +10.5
Greg Prichard writes: The Panthers are missing three star players – Luke Lewis,
Michael Jennings and Tim Grant – to State of Origin, which explains why the
Warriors have been posted as warm favourites despite being on the road. The
Warriors have had a chequered passage so far this season, and have some players
out injured, but at least they haven't lost any players to Origin. The problem
for the Panthers is that they don't have a lot of depth.
AAP writes: Ivan Cleary takes on the side he guided to last year's grand final
for the first time when the Warriors roll in to Penrith on Monday. The hosts
face a massive test in taking on a side that gave Melbourne a huge fright last
week, and have no State of Origin concerns. Penrith are without NSW trio Tim
Grant, Luke Lewis and Michael Jennings and face the tough task of stopping a
Warriors side that's showing flashes of the brilliant form that Cleary is well
aware of.
Key: Ivan Cleary has
done a solid job under difficult circumstances at Penrith, and his knowledge of
what makes the Warriors tick and what makes them fallible could lay the
foundations for a third successive home victory.
