Tonga had a great world cup in 2007 and really made the rugby world take notice of their ability, they picked up two wins in their pool and gave the eventual champions South Africa a real scare only going down 30-25. This time round though they have not had the same level of performance, they only have one win under their belt against Japan and will have been disappointed by the loss to Canada. The entire nation will be looking for a big performance here to at least ensure they return home with their heads held high, or even better manage to make the quarters.
No one is expecting the Tongans to qualify, or even win this game, but that will suit them down to the ground. Teams like Tonga thrive on the tag of underdogs and they will be able to play and run like a team with no pressure on them, and that is exactly when they are at their most dangerous.
Looking at it from a French point of view however this game takes on a whole different shape, they require a single point in order to secure their safe path alongside the All Blacks into the quarter finals. They are big favourites for this game but that means they have to deal with the pressure and expectation that comes with the hype.
